Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Sandy City public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Centennial Parkway Street Dedication
The city needs to formally re-dedicate a portion of Centennial Parkway back to public use after a previous street vacation was rendered unnecessary by project changes.
City Office Space Needs
Sandy City is facing a growing shortage of office space, with a projected need for over 40,000 additional square feet. The council is considering purchasing the Arbor Plaza Office Building to address this.
Road and Intersection Improvements
Commissioners raised concerns that a proposed 530-foot raised median on 700 West would cause driver frustration and forced U-turns. They worked with city engineers to allow the median to be shortened initially, with a condition that the city can require its reinstallation later as traffic increases.
Audio-Visual System Functionality
The city's audio-visual systems are experiencing technical difficulties, impacting the clarity of sound and video during meetings. This affects both in-person attendees and those participating remotely, hindering effective communication.
